I wish Ford had just called them Fords, maybe then they would have sold better. The Scorpio is what the Taurus wished it was.

yup and to me it just seems silly to have Merkur, and Mercury.
Were Merkurs sold at Ford dealerships, or independent dealers?

XR4 is still on the short list of cars I want to own. Tying the dark grey wheels with the dark gray bumpers was cleaver.

Actually they were sold at "select" Lincoln/Mercury/Merkur dealers. Only between 700-800 L/M dealers also got a Merkur franchise. IIRC, there were over 2,000 dealers nationwide for L:/M in the 80s.

where I live , there were no dedicated Lincoln/Mercury dealerships , so , yeah , they were at Ford dealerships .
